Freddie de Tommaso, Andrè Schuen & Mika Kares Headline New CD/DVD Releases

Passione
Freddie De Tommaso releases his debut album “Passione.” The new album represents an homage to tenor Franco Corelli and features arrangements made for other star tenors including Henry Mancini, Mantovani, and Giancarlo Chiaramello. There are also arrangements of songs made for Giuseppe Di Stefano by Roberto Negri. Among those pieces are Respighi’s “Nebbie” a well as Puccini’s “Menta l’avviso” and “Sole e Amore.” The album also includes music by Bellini, Puccini, and Leoncavallo. De Tommaso is accompanied by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Renato Balsadonna.
Don Giovanni
Unitel Classics releases Mozart’s second Da Ponte opera conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Following “Le Nozze di Figaro” in the Mozart/Da Ponte cycle from the Theater an der Wien, Unitel brings the second installment in the series with a cast that includes Andrè Schuen, Mika Kares, Christine Schäfer, Mauro Peter, Maite Beaumont, Ruben Drole, and Mari Eriksmoen. The DVD also features a Documentary: “Nikolaus Harnoncourt – Between Obsession and Perfection.”
