This week audiences will get to experience a solo debut album and two complete opera recordings.
Here is a look at our recommendations.
Freddie De Tommaso releases his debut album “Passione.” The new album represents an homage to tenor Franco Corelli and features arrangements made for other star tenors including Henry Mancini, Mantovani, and Giancarlo Chiaramello. There are also arrangements of songs made for Giuseppe Di Stefano by Roberto Negri. Among those pieces are Respighi’s “Nebbie” a well as Puccini’s “Menta l’avviso” and “Sole e Amore.” The album also includes music by Bellini, Puccini, and Leoncavallo. De Tommaso is accompanied by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Renato Balsadonna.
Dynamic releases Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” from “Der Ring des Nibelungen.” This production was recorded in 2010 at the Sofia Opera and Ballet theatre as the first title of the complete Ring cycle that we will be releasing entirely in separate titles within 2021. The theatre’s managing director Plamen Kartaloff directed the production.
