Franco Fagioli Cancels ‘Orlando’ Tour

Franco Fagioli has canceled his participation in “Orlando” tour.

The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées announced that Argentinian countertenor would not be participating in tour where he was scheduled to sing the title role of Handel’s “Orlando”. As a result, French countertenor Christophe Dumaux will replace Fagioli in Paris while Max Emanuel Cencic will takeover performances in Essen, Verona, and Madrid.

Dumaux recently performed “Orlando” at the Theater an de Wien and is scheduled for performances at the Teatro alla Scala and Palau de les Arts. Meanwhile, Cencic is scheduled to perform at the Theater an der Wien, Badische Staatstheater, Wiener Staatsoper, and Teatro alla Scala.

Fagioli is currently in rehearsals for “Agrippina” alongside Joyce DiDonato.

The “Orlando” tour opens on Jan. 9 at the Teatro Ristori. The tour also stars Kathryn Lewek, Luca Pisaroni, Delphine Galou, and Nuria Rial. Francesco Corti leads Il Pomo d’oro.
