The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced its 2024 season and its 86th annual festival. Here is a look at the opera and vocal performances.

Nikolas Nägele conducts Grieg’s “Peer Gynt” with Aitana Sanz-Pérez, Sandro Lombardi, Elena Ghiaurov, and Annibale Pavone.

Performance Date: Jan. 15 & 16, 2024

Giuseppe La Malfa conducts “La Principessa di Gelo” in a production by Manu Lalli. The production will star Eunhee Maggio, Valentina Corò, Olha Smokolina, Alfonso Zambuto, Maya Quattrini, and Chiara Casalbuoni.

Danbi Lee and Min Chung team up for a program of music by Mendelssohn and Brahms.

Daniele Gatti conducts Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” in a production by Jonathan Miller. Marco Filippo Romano stars in the title role with Sara Blanch, Nikoletta Hertsak, Yijie Shi, Lorenzo Martelli, Markus Werba, and Matteo Mancini.

Performance Date: March 15-24, 2024

Nikoleta Kapetanidou, Aleksandra Meteleva, Dave Monaco, and Pablo Ruiz perform Rossini’s “Stabat Mater.” Vitali Alekseenok conducts the program which also includes Johann Sebastian Bach/Anton Webern’s Da Musikalisches Opfer.

Daniele Gatti and Lorenzo Fratini conduct a program that includes Bruckner, Mahler, and Zemlinsky. Sara Blanch is the soloist.

Teresa Iervolino and Francesco Pareti perform in a recital with music by Saverio Mercadante.

Zubin Mehta conducts Puccini’s “Turandot” in a production by Zhang Yimou. Olga Maslova and Eunhee Maggio star in the title role alongside Carlo Bosi, Simon Lim, Angelos Samartzis, Ivan Magrì, and Valeria Sepe.

Performance Dates: April 21-May 3, 2024

Elia Schilton, Alexia Voulgaridou, Olha Smokolina, Lorenzo Martelli, Alfonso Zambuto, Anicio Zorzi Giustiniani, Giovan Battista Parodi, Gianluca Margheri, and Davide Piva star in “Jeanne Dark.” Alessandro Cadario conducts the production by Valentino Villa.

Performance Date: May 14-18, 2024

Daniele Gatti conducts Massimo Popolizio’s production of Puccini’s “Tosca.” The opera will star Vanessa Goikoetxea and Francesco Meli.

Roberto Abbado conducts a program of music by Puccini, Verdi, Cilea, and Tchaikovsky.
