Francesco Giambrone Appointed New Superintendent of Teatro dell’Opera di Roma

Francesco Giambrone has been appointed the new Superintendent of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

Giambrone is a medical doctor specialized in cardiology who has worked intensively as a music and dance critic for the “Giornale di Sicilia,” “il Mattino,” “la Repubblica,” and for magazines such as “Danza & Danza,” “Segno,” and “Nuove Ephemerides.”

Giambrone was appointed the Superintendent of the Teatro Massimo di Palermo in 1999. He subsequently became the Superintendent of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Foundation between 2006 and 2009, and President of the “Vincenzo Bellini” Conservatory of Music in Palermo between 2007 and 2013.

Giambrone is currently serving his third term as the Superintendent of the Teatro Massimo di Palermo. He was elected member of the Board of Directors of Opera Europa in November 2020.

Giambrone will begin his new position on Jan. 1, 2022, and will work with the Music Director of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Michele Mariotti.
