Francesca Sassu Takes Over ‘Norma’ At La Fundación Baluarte

La Fundación Baluarte in Pamplona, Spain has announced a cast change for its upcoming performances of “Norma.”

The company announced that Lianna Haroutounian would no longer be able to sing the title role due to illness. As a result, Francesca Sassu will take over performances.

Sassu is a well-known Italian soprano who has performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro la Fenice, Arena di Verona, Teatro Regio di Parma, and Salzburg Festival. This season she is set to appear at the Teatro La Fenice in “La Traviata” and the Teatro Petruzzelli in a production of “Turandot” at Liù.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Susana Cordón, Sergio Escobar and Simón Orfila. José Miguel Pérez-Sierra conducts the production by Mario Pontiggia.

Performances of Norma are set for Feb. 7 and 9, 2020.
