Blackheathe Halls Opera will present Gluck’s “Iphegenia in Tauris.”

The opera will feature soprano Francesca Chiejina as Iphigenia; Chiejina previously performed as “Semele” in Blackheath Halls Opera 2023. Joining her is Dan Shelvey as Oreste, Michael Lafferty as Pylade, Dan D’Souza as Thoas, and Emily Williams as the First Priestess.

Laura Attridge directs, and Chris Stark will conduct the showcases, set for Sept. 23 through Sept. 28, 2025.

“I’m thrilled to be directing this year’s community opera production at Blackheath Halls – a project very close to my heart. It’s also a particular joy to collaborate with Martin Pickard on a new English adaptation created specially to celebrate Blackheath Halls Opera’s unique performing forces,” Attridge said per an official press release.

The production of the Gluck opera is supported by the Arts Council England as well as donations from Blackheath Hall’s Friends and Patrons.
