Forth Worth Opera To Join Forces With Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán
By Francisco SalazarFort Worth Opera has revealed that Mexican ensemble Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán will be making a major appearance in the company’s 2019 production of “El Pasado Nunca se Termina (The Past is Never Finished).”
The ensemble has been called “The Best Mariachi in Jalisco,” and was founded in 1965 by José “Pepe” Martínez and his brother Fernando Martinez. Since then, the band has released around 80 albums and has been featured in over 70 productions, while performing for the recordings of other ranchero artists.
“We are honored to work with Fort Worth Opera, playing the music of yet another beautiful creation of my uncle Pepe,” said Angel Martínez Arreguín, director of Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan, La Excelencia de México in a press release. “It is always gratifying to collaborate with companies that promote Mexican music and culture and support Latin artists. We are sure it will be an unforgettable experience.”
Performances for “El Pasado Nunca se Termina” kick off on May 10, 11, 12.
Fort Worth Opera is also featuring such works as “Porgy and Bess,” “Companionship” and “Hansel and Gretel” as part of its 2018-19 season.
