Fort Worth Opera to Stream Past Premieres

Fort Worth Opera has announced that it will be streaming two previous works on YouTube and Facebook.

The first opera, “Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World,” was composed by the company’s artistic director Joe Illick, with the libretto by Mark Campbell, and made its world premiere with Fort Worth Opera in November of 2019. This family opera follows the story of Marianna Morillo Safa and her friendship with painter Frida Kahlo.

Stream Dates: Thursday April 16, 4-5pm, via Youtube. Saturday, April 18, 2-3 pm, Facebook Watch Party.

The second work will be “Feel the Tango,” by Illick and librettist Susan Westfall. The opera is one of a trio of 20-minute works called “Brief Encounters,” which Fort Worth Opera presented in their 2018 festival.

As per a press release, “This one-act comedy paints the portrait of a jaded married couple whose Friday night takes an unexpected turn once they step into their favorite Spanish restaurant.”
