Fort Worth Opera has announced a call for submissions for its upcoming “Frontiers: FWO Libretto Workshop.”

This two-day intensive, held before a live audience via Zoom, will be led by Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award-winning librettist and lyricist Mark Campbell, who will be joined by a panel of prominent industry composers, directors, artists, and librettists.

Submissions will be accepted from September 14 – 29, 2020, with the six winning librettists being publicly announced. All librettists who are citizens or residents of North, Central, or South America are eligible to submit. Submissions must be in English, and include a synopsis. The workshop will be held on October 7 and 8, 2020 at 7:00 pm CT.

This iteration of FWO’s “Frontiers” is noted for its exclusive focus on the dramatic, textual elements of an opera’s development, with the company ensuring that this part of the process is not neglected during these socially-distanced times. The panel is comprised of Hector Armienta, Nicole Brooks, Octavio Cardenas, Blythe Gaissert, Alison Moritz, Rachel J. Peters, Kelley Rourke, and Talise Trevigne.
