Fort Worth Opera Announces ‘Music Speaks: The Language of Poetry and Libretti Workshop Series’

Fort Worth Opera will present “Music Speaks: The Language of Poetry and Libretti Workshop Series” starting this January.

First up, Lesley Resident Artists and select graduate-level voice students will work alongside pianist, conductor, librettist, Italian grammar and poetry teacher Lucy Yates, in a seminar on Italian art songs and arias. Online audiences will also get a chance to engage in an online poetry game.

Streaming Date: Jan. 7 & 9, 2021

Juilliard School vocal literature professor J.J. Penna will lead students in a performance of French Art songs and arias on followed by another session focused on German lieder and arias. 

Streaming Date: Jan. 16 (French) & 23 (German), 2021

The series concludes with a session featuring opera coach, pianist, and conductor Rachelle Jonck focused on Italian art song and arias.
