By Francisco Salazar

The Fondazione Teatri Piacenza has announced the postponement of its upcoming production of Boito’s “Mesfitofele.”

The company announced that the production, which was set to close the 2019-20 season will be postponed to October 2022. The decision was made due to regulations established by the Italian government following the COVID-19 crisis.

The production was scheduled to be performed on Nov. 6 and 8 and would have featured Riccardo Zanellato, Antonio Poli, Carmen Giannattasio, and Agostina Smimmero. Gianluigi Gelmetti would have conducted the production by Enrico Stinchelli directing.

Ticket holders will be reimbursed per the company’s statement.

The Fondazione Teatri Piacenza recently performed a concert at the Palazzo Farnese starring Francesco Meli and Luca Salsi and will present a concert on Sept. 5 with Leo Nucci.
