Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza to Stream Verdi’s Requiem

By Francisco Salazar

The Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza has announced that the Verdi Requiem scheduled for Nov. 24 will be held without an audience.

As a result, the performance will be streamed on the new platform Opera Streaming. Plácido Domingo will conduct the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini and the chorus of the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza.

Soloists will include Maria José Siri, Annalisa Stroppa, Antonio Poli, and Michele Pertusi.

Audiences can stream the performance for free on YouTube starting at 8 p.m. CET.

This is the latest theater to continue performing using streaming platforms following Opéra Comique, Opéra de Paris, and the Teatro la Fenice, among others following a surge in COVID-19 cases in Europe. Italy closed down all theaters from Oct. 28 through Nov. 24.
