Catalina Cuervo, Michele Angelini & Arturo Chacón Cruz Lead Florida Grand Opera’s 2022-23 Season

The Florida Grand Opera has announced its 2022-23 season featuring four productions.

Cimarosa’s “El matrimonio secreto” will get a new production set among the world of the hard-working Cuban diaspora in the Miami Beach of the 1980s. The work will star Vanessa Becerra, Page Michels, Catalina Cuervo, Ashley Shalna, Erin Alford, Joseph McBrayer, and Phillip Lopez. Marlene Urbay conducts the production by Elena Araoz.

Performance Dates: Nov. 12-15, 2022

Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi” and Michael Ching’s “Buoso’s Ghost” will be performed in a double bill. Franco Pomponi, Robynne Redmon, Charles Calotta, Page Michels, Ashley Shalno, Erin Alford, Joseph McBrayer, and Phillip Lopez star. Michael Ching conducts the production by Mo Zhou.

Performance Dates: Jan. 28-Feb. 11, 2023

Puccini’s “Tosca” returns to the stage featuring some of the greatest arias in the repertoire. Toni Marie Palmertree sings the title role alongside Arturo Chacón Cruz and Todd Thomas. Gregory Buchalter conducts the production by Jeffrey Marc Buchman.

Performance Dates: March 18-April 15, 2023

Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” returns to the stage in a revival staging. Young-Kwang Yoo, Stephanie Doche, Michele Angelini, Rafael Porto, and Susan Neves star.

Performance Dates: April 29-May 19, 2023

The operas will be performed at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County / Ziff Ballet Opera House and Broward Center for the Performing Arts / Au-Rene Theater.

Casting will be announced at a later date.
