Florida Grand Opera Announces 2020-21 Season
By Francisco SalazarThe Flordia Grand Opera has announced its 2020-21 season celebrating its 80 anniversary, the seventh oldest opera company in America.
This season Knight Concert Hall will become the new home for FGO’s Made for Miami series branded “Opera at Knight” to showcase 20th and 21st century operatic work.
The season will open with Verdi’s popular masterwork “La traviata.”
Performance Dates: Nov. 14 – Dec. 5, 2020, in Miami: Ziff Opera House, Arsht Center & Fort Lauderdale: Au-Rene Theater, Broward Center
The season will continue with Rossini’s “Otello.” It will be a chance for audiences to hear Rossini’s famous “Willow Song” from this rarely performed work.
Performance Dates: Jan. 30 – Feb. 13, 2021, in Miami: Ziff Opera House, Arsht Center & Fort Lauderdale: Au-Rene Theater, Broward Center
Gounod’s “Faust” returns to the Florida Grand Opera featuring some of the most popular music in the operatic repertoire.
Performance Dates: March 20 – April 10, 2021, n Miami: Ziff Opera House, Arsht Center & Fort Lauderdale: Au-Rene Theater, Broward Center
Gregory Spears and Greg Pierce’s “Fellow Travelers” makes its Florida Grand Opera premiere. Travelers will be part of the company’s Made for Miami series, “Opera at Knight.”
Performance Dates: April 24 – 27, 2021, in Miami: Knight Concert Hall, Arsht Center
