Conductor Tarmo Peltokoski has been named the Principal Guest Conductor of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.

This is the first time in the company’s 42-year history that it has designated a conductor with that title.

The 21-year-old Finnish maestro made his debut with the organization in June 2021 at the “Glocke” concert hall in Bremen and in 2022, Peltokoski is set to lead the ensemble at the Musikfest Bremen, Beethovenfest Bonn, and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

“Deep love and respect binds me to The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. The greatest moments of music making I have experienced have been with them, and I am indescribably grateful, honoured and blessed to have been granted this title,” Peltokoski said of his appointment in an official statement.

Peltokoski will have a busy 2021-22 season, making debuts with such organizations as the Komische Oper, the hr Symphony Orchestra and at the Festival Septembre Musical Montreux-Vevey. He is also set to lead his first complete “Ring Cycle” at the Eurajoki Bel Canto Festival.

“I have met Tarmo, am impressed by his talent and am very much looking forward to a lively exchange with him in the coming years,” said Paavo Järvi, the Artistic Director of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
