Finger Lakes Opera to Resume Live Performances in July 2021

By David Salazar

Finger Lakes Opera has announced a return to live performances starting this July.

“Each summer is special as the creative team works its magic to bring the mainstage and young artists together for a collective experience unique to audience members. Having that taken away last year was stifling, which is why the board and staff were deeply committed to bringing live opera back to the Finger Lakes region,” Executive Director Elizabeth Long explained in a press release.

The summer season kicks off with Summer Scenes, a showcase featuring the company’s 2021 Tomita Young Artists. The ensemble will present scenes from “Carmen,” “Le Nozze di Figaro,” “Candide,” and several other operas.

Performance Date: July 21, 2021

Next up will be “Three Little Pigs,” which will use music from Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” to put a unique spin on the classic tale. The performance will also feature the 2021 Tomita Young Artists.

Performance Date: July 25, 2021

“Opera HITS!” will feature Artist Director Gerard Floriano leading the 2021 Tomita Young Artists in a concert dominated by famed arias and Broadway show tunes.

Performance Date: July 31, 2021

Finally, the company will perform “The Barber of Seville.”

Performance Date: August 6 & 7, 2021
