Finger Lakes Opera Announces Tomita Young Artist Class of 2022

Finger Lakes Opera has announced the Tomita Young Artist Class of 2022.

The young artists include sopranos Danielle Beckvermit and Kayla Hill Oderah; mezzo-soprano Erika Danielle Vasallo; tenor Robert Hartfield; baritone Geoffrey Schmelzer; bass Jeremy Harr; and pianist Jenny Choo Kirby.

These artists will take part in several performance opportunities with the company starting in July 2022. Additioanlly, they will also attend masterclasses with major vocal coaches including Jason Alexander Holms and Cris Frisco.

The company has also announced Stephany Havey has been appointed as the Tomita Young Artist Program Director. Havey has worked with such companies as Curtis Institute of Music, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Mannes School of Music at The New School, Carnegie Mellon University, Manhattan School of Music, and Central City Opera.

“I am so pleased to join FLO in this new role By working with each unique artist to facilitate successful performance opportunities and to promote their professional development, FLO will create a supportive and safe space for young artists to grow as they prepare for the next steps of their career,” Havey said in an official press statement.
