Film Director James Kicklighter & Female Baritone Lucia Lucas Featured as Guests on ‘Tawkin’ with the Roses’

By Chris Ruel

Award-winning film director James Kicklighter and celebrated American baritone Lucia Lucas, were guests on the season finale of “Tawkin with the Roses,” hosted by actor Bonnie Rose and cabaret star Stephen S. Miller (aka Mama Rose).

The episode is available on Miller’s website, and across the web on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

The show sets up Shout! Studios’ June 1, 2021, digital and on-demand platform release of Kicklighter’s “The Sound of Identity,” a feature-length documentary chronicling Lucas’s journey as an artist. The film follows Lucas as she prepares to sing the title role in “Don Giovanni” with Tulsa Opera. The 2018 history-making US-debut performance showcased Lucas as the first female baritone to sing a principal role on an American stage.

Lucas has won critical acclaim as a baritone across Europe, Asia, and the US, and she recently made her role debut as Wotan in “Die Walküre” with Theater Magdeburg.

“Tawkin with the Roses” host Bonnie Rose is a veteran actor who has appeared in shows such as “Law and Order,” “Third Watch,” and “The Sopranos.” Co-host Stephen S. Miller is a cabaret performer, actor, and stage manager.
