The Schloßberg has announced a production of Beethoven’s “Fidelio.”

The production, which is slated to be performed on August 20, 22, and 23, 2020 in Graz, Austria, will star Peter Seiffert as Florestan and Bryn Terfel in his role debut as Don Pizarro. The cast is also set to include Barbara Krieger as Leonore, Peter Kellner as Rocco, Narine Yeghiyan as Marzelline, Neven Crnic as Don Fernando, and Mario Lerchenberger as Jaquino. Marcus Merkel is set to conduct the production.

The production is one of the few operas that will be staged during the summer season in Austria. The Salzburg Festival is staging two planned productions, while the Bregenz Festival canceled its season.

In addition to this role debut as Pizarro, was recently announced as one of the participants in the Met Opera’s new pay-per-view series. He is set to appear in a holiday concert in December.
