The Festspielhaus Baden-Baden has released an apology to tenor Piotr Beczala after a technical glitch on opening night of “Lohengrin” on March 28.

The company took to social media and said, “We would like to formally apologize to Piotr Beczala. Following yesterday’s premiere, during the well-deserved solo applause for this exceptional artist, there was an unfortunate technical glitch that caused a power outage. This should not have happened, and we deeply regret it. We thank Piotr Beczala —for his unparalleled portrayal of Lohengrin and for his understanding.”

“Lohengrin” is currently starring Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Tanja Ariane Baumgartner, Wolfgang Koch, and Kwangchul Youn. Joana Mallwitz conducts the production by Johannes Erath.

“Lohengrin” is set to be performed on March 31 and April 5 and will be broadcast on Arte on April 5.
