Festival Verdi Announces Cast Change for Requiem Performances

The Festival Verdi has announced a cast change for its Requiem performances on Sept. 18 & 20, 2020.

The festival announced that bass Roberto Tagliavini will replace Michele Pertusi, who is replacing Ildar Abdrazakov in “Don Carlos” at the Wiener Staatsoper.

In a statement, Wiener Staatsoper General Director Dr. Bogdan Roščić expressed immense gratitude to the Festival Verdi for releasing Pertusi from his contract.

Tagliavini is a well known bass who has performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Opéra de Paris, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatre del Liceu, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper, Wiener Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, LA Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera.

He joins a cast that includes Eleonora Buratto, Anita Rachvelshvili, and Giorgio Berrugi. Roberto Abbado conducts the work Parco Ducale in Parma.
