Festival Verdi Announces Cast Change for ‘Macbeth’

The Festival Verdi in Parma has announced a cast change for its upcoming “Macbeth.”

The festival announced that Silvia Dalla Benetta will take over the role of Lady Macbeth replacing Davinia Rodriguez, who is indisposed.

Dalla Benetta has performed the role of Lady Macbeth in Pavia, Como, Brescia, and Cremona, among others. The soprano has also performed at the Festival Verdi in productions of “Jérusalem,” and “Il Corsaro,” among others.

She is well known for her versatile repertoire, which includes Rossini, Verdi, Donizetti, Meyerbeer, Bellini, and Mozart.

Dalla Benetta joins a cast that includes Ludovic Tézier, Riccardo Zanellato, and Giorgio Berrugi. Roberto Abbado conducts “Macbeth,” in its rarely performed French version.

The opera opens on Sept. 11. at the Parco Ducale di Parma.
