The Festival Verdi has announced a cast change for its upcoming “Ernani.”

The festival announced that Vladimir Stoyanov will take over the role of Don Carlo replacing Amartuvshin Enkhbat, who is in Mongolia and unable to perform due to the quarantine imposed as a result of continued concerns over COVID-19.

Stoyanov is a well-known baritone who has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Real, Royal Opera House, Teatro La Fenice, Opéra de Paris, Wiener Staatsoper, and Festival Verdi di Parma. He is renowned for his Verdi interpretations, singing roles from “La Traviata,” “Rigoletto,” “Il Trovatore,” I Masnadieri,” “Un Ballo in Maschera,” “I Due Foscari,” and “Attila,” among others.

The baritone joins a cast that includes Eleonora Buratto, Piero Pretti, and Roberto Tagliavini. Michele Mariotti conducts the concert performances at the Parco Ducale di Parma.

“Ernani” opens on Sept. 25, 2020.
