
Festival Verdi Announces 2025 Edition
By Francisco SalazarFestival Verdi has announced the operas for the 2025 edition, which will take place between Sept. 20 and Oct. 18, 2025.
The theme for the Festival will be Verdi and Shakespeare and will celebrate the 25th edition in Parma and Busetto.
The operas that will be showcased are “Otello,” “Macbeth (1847),” and “Falstaff.” Otello and Falstaff will be shown in a new critical edition prepared by the University of Chicago Press and Casa Ricordi.
“Otello” will be performed at the Teatro Regio di Parma in a new production. Fabio Sartori sings the title role alongside Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, Davide Tuscano, and Francesco Pittari. Roberto Abbado conducts the production by Federico Tiezzi
Performance Dates: Sept. 26-Oct. 19, 2025
The 1847 version of “Macbeth” will be performed at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi di Busseto. Davide Luciano makes his role debut as Macbeth alongside Adolfo Corrado, Marily Santoro, Maria Cristina Bellantuono, and Matteo Roma. Francesco Lanzillotta conducts the production by Manuel Renga.
Performance Dates: Sept. 27-Oct. 17, 2025
The final opera, “Falstaff” will be shown at the Teatro Regio di Parma and will be performed in Jacopo Spirei’s 2017 production. The production will star Misha Kiria, Roberta Mantegna, Alessandro Luongo, Giuliana Gianfaldoni, Teresa Iervolino, Dave Monaco, and Caterina Piva. Michele Spotti conducts.
Performance Dates: Oct. 3-16, 2025
Concerts
The festival will present a Gala Verdiano featuring Acts from “Luisa Miller” and Rigoletto.” “Luisa Miller’s” act will feature Alessia Panza, Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, Emanuele Cordaro, and Galeano Salas. Meanwhile, “Rigoletto” will feature Galeano Salas, Giuliana Gianfaldoni, Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, Emanuele Cordaro, and Teresa Iervolino.
