Festival of Polish Music Announces 20th Anniversary Season

Details of the Festival of Polish Music’s 20th anniversary season have been announced.

For the purposes of this article only opera and classical vocal events are included.

First up, sopranos Agnieszka Budzińska-Bennett, Lorenza Donadini, Hanna Järveläinen, and Grace Newcombe present “SILESIA: Music from Silesian sources of the 14th and 15th centuries,” with the ensemble Peregrina.

Performance Date: July 13, 2024

Tenor Wojciech Parchem serves as soloist in Benjamin Britten’s “Serenade for tenor, horn and strings, Op. 3,” with Sinfonietta Cracovia led by Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak.

Performance Date: July 19, 2024

Roman Statkowski’s opera “Philaenis” makes its orchestral premiere with Krzysztof Słowiński conducting the Szymanowski Philharmonic. Soprano Izabela Matuła performs the title role, along side soprano Ilona Krzywicka, mezzo-sopranos Mariana Poltorak and Ksenia Łuka, alto Gabriela Korzystka, tenors Daniel Domarecki and Hubert Walawski, bass-baritone Krzysztof Szumański, and bass Jakub Schmidt. They are also joined by the Krakow Philharmonic choir.
