Festival della Valle d’Itria to Present Nino Rota’s ‘Aladino e la lampada magica’

The Festival della Valle d’Itria is set to present its third opera ” Aladino e la lampada magica” by Nino Rota.

The opera, which will be presented at the Palazzo Ducale di Martina Franca, will be presented on July 30, August 1, and 4, 2024.

The work, which will has been absent from theaters and festivals for many years, is the third opera that the festival showcases by the famed Italian composer following “Il cappello di paglia di Firenze” and “Napoli milionaria.”

Francesco Lanzillotta will conduct the Orchestra and Coro del Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari in a production by Argentine Rita Cosentino. The production will showcase tenor Marco Ciaponi (Aladino), soprano Claudia Urru (La Principessa Badr-al-Budùr), bass Marco Filippo Romano (Mago e Re), baritone Alexander Ilvakhin (Il genio dell’anello), and baritone Rocco Cavalluzzi (Il Gran Ministro).

The cast will also showcase singers from the Accademia del Belcanto “Rodolfo Celletti” including Marco Filippo Romano, Eleonora Filipponi, Omar Cepparolli, Pepe Hannan, Davide Zaccherini, Zachary McCulloch, Anastasia Churakova, and Giovanni Accardi.

This season the company is also set to present “Ariodante” and “Norma.”
