By David Salazar

Composer Felix Jarrar and librettist Bea Goodwin are set to take audiences behind the scenes of their latest collaboration “Hindsight: Behind the Lens” on Sept. 30, 2020.

The Zoom event, which kicks off at 8 p.m., will preview the duo’s new crime opera which focuses on the events leading up to the Leopold and Loeb trial. Audiences will get a chance to not only understand the historical context of these events but also explore some of the opera’s themes regarding fascism and elitism in America and their continued presence to this day, 100 years after the Leopold and Loeb trial.

The event will also feature Gabriel Hernandez and Joseph Beutel.

“Hindsight: Behind the Lens” is the third collaboration between Jarrar and Goodwin, following “A Christmas Carol” and “Tabula Rasa.” Jarrar has also composed such operas as “Mother Goose” and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” while Goodwin wrote the libretto for “Princess Madeleine,” among other works.
