Felix Jarrar & Alison Saporta to Present ‘Reminiscence’

Soprano Alison Saporta and pianist-composer Felix Jarrar will present “Reminiscence” on August 30, 2023 at Opera America in New York City.

The showcase, a program of memories and nostalgia, will include music by Barber, Mozart, Schumann, as well as a premiere of comic songs composed by Jarrar.

“‘Reminiscence’ is a title that encompasses the nostalgia for a past that Alison and I can relate to as performers with the repertoire we have selected,” Jarrar told OperaWire. “We cover a whole gamut of emotions with our program. From the tragic to the comic, we will give audiences an eclectic array of emotions we hope they will reminisce on after the program.”

Saporta, a native of New York, has performed in operas with such companies as  Make Music Day, Online Music Guild, University of Utah Opera, and Boston Conservatory Opera, among others.

Meanwhile, Jarrar has composed has composed over 230 works, including 200 songs, 13 operas, 2 string quartets, 2 cantatas, and a symphony. His music has  been performed internationally by artists from prestigious institutions like the Metropolitan Opera, New England Repertory Orchestra, Atlantic Music Festival Orchestra, Unassisted Fold Duo, and Spark Duo.
