Federico Longhi Headlines ‘Il Trovatore’ in Linz
By Francisco SalazarFederico Longhi is set to headline a production of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” at the Linz Landestheater in Austria.
Longhi will make his role debut as the Conte di Luna adding another Verdi role to his repertoire which already includes Falstaff and Rigoletto, among others. In a press statement Longhi said: “I can’t wait for my debut in this role, another character that every baritone dreams of singing. I’m so happy to add this fascinating character to the gallery of Verdi characters that I will have sung during my career. He’s an interesting character, a young boy in love with a young girl that doesn’t love him, an intense role from a vocal aspect and one that needs an authentic Bel Canto technique. I’m so glad to sing it in Linz.
Longhi joins a cast that includes Isabella Matula, Sonja Šarić, Katherine Lerner, Julia Faylenbogen, Sung-Kyu Park, and James Lee with Maestro Enrico Calesso conducting a production by Gregor Horres.
Performances open on Jan. 11 and run through April 2, 2020.
