Faymous to Present ‘Rigoletto’ At The Box in NYC

By David Salazar

Faymous will present the second installment of “A Night of Opera at the Box” on Feb. 29, 2020, with proceeds going to Sing for Hope.

The showcase, which will take place for one-night only at The Box in New York City, will present a re-imagined look at Verdi and Piave’s “Rigoletto.” In this version, the opera will take place at a pizza shop run by Rigoletto; the pizza shop is actually a store front for the Duke, who is really a mobster. Within this modern setting, the production will explore the opera’s modern themes of abuse of power.

The work will star Daniel Scofield as Rigoletto with Jessica Fischenfeld as his daughter Gilda. Finally, Roy Hage will take on the role of the mobster “Duke” with Sarah Heltzel as Maddalena, and Matthew Curran as the hitman Sparafucile. Adam Unger stars as Monterone.
