Famed director Robert Dornhelm ended up in the hospital due to complications related to COVID-19.

After the opening of the Grafenegg Festival in Lower Austria, Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner organized a reception for over 80 guests of the festival, which also included Dornhelm. However, it turned out that Dornhelm was positive for COVID-19.

According to the sources of the Austrian Kurier, Governor Mikl-Leitner tested negative for COVID-19. Per the statement by Lower Austria’s Medical Director Irmgard Lechner, Dornhelm was not infectious at the time of the reception.

Robert Dornhelm was supposed to continue the production on the TV crime trilogy “Vienna Blood,” a production of MR-Film. All the MR-Film employees on the set tested negative for COVID-19 on August 10.

After repeat testing on August 17, Robert Dornhelm tested positive for novel coronavirus. As a result, all the MR-Film offices were temporarily closed until Tuesday, August 25, and all the persons that had contact with Dornhelm remained in the self-isolation.

Another round of COVID-19 testing for the employees of the MR-Film will be organized on Monday, August 24. The supposed start of production had to be postponed accordingly.
