Fairfield County Chorale to Showcase ‘Misatango’

Fairfield County Chorale will present Palmeri’s “Misatango” on March 9, 2024 as part of its “Choral, Hot and Cool” concert.

Headlining the famed piece is mezzo-soprano Malena Dayen, who is joined by Shinjoo Cho on bandoneón and members of the Norwalk High School Senior Chorus under Steven Oliveri.

“’Misa a Buenos Aires’ (also known as ‘Misatango’) combines the unique rhythms, harmonies, and beguiling melodies of Argentinian Tango with the traditional liturgical text of the Catholic Mass,” said Fairfield County Chorale music director, David Rosenmeyer, per an official press statement. Rosenmeyer conducts the performance.

The showcase, which will also feature selections by Ola Gjeilo and a world premiere by Evan Fein; the Fein piece is dedicated to the Fairfield County Chorale and features poetry by Faith Shearin.

The performance kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at the Norwalk Concert Hall.
