Experiments in Opera to Launch EiO Recordings

By David Salazar

Experiments in Opera has announced the launch of EiO Recordings, a new streaming label dedicated to promoting bold, boundary-pushing music within the evolving operatic tradition.

The label officially launches on Nov. 14, 2025, with the release of “Everything for Dawn,” a 10-part work that originally premiered as a television opera on the All Arts channel.

With EiO Recordings, Experiments in Opera, which has commissioned and produced nearly 100 new works spanning theater, radio, and television, aims to ensure that the company’s productions reach a global audience through high-quality streaming releases. The label will also serve as a resource for composers, librettists, conductors, and performers, giving artists access to professionally mastered recordings that can support their careers.

“EiO Recordings is really needed because it fills a gap for young artists,” said Artist Leader Kamala Sankaram, per an official press release. “In many cases, you can’t share archival recordings of your work, which makes it hard to get the next commission or job. Including these recordings as part of our commissions helps artists continue building their careers.”

Alongside “Everything for Dawn,” the label will feature the 2020 podcast opera “Aqua Net & Funyuns,” with upcoming releases including Anthony Braxton’s “Theater Improvisations” and Aaron Siegel’s 2025 opera “Rainbird.”

All recordings will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other major platforms, as well as for purchase at the label’s official website.
