Ewa Plonka Replaces Angela Meade in Teatro Real’s ‘Turandot’

The Teatro Real de Madrid has announced a new cast change for its production of Puccini’s “Turandot.”

The company said that Ewa Plonka will replace Angela Meade in the title role of Turandot. The news comes two days after it was announced that Meade would replace Elena Pankratova, who was originally cast to lead the second cast.

Plonka will perform the title role on July 4, 7, 10, 17, and 20.

She will join a cast that includes Michael Fabiano, Ruth Iniesta, and Liang Li.

“Turandot” opens on July 3 and runs through July 22. The opera will also star Saioa Hernandez, Anna Pirozzi, Jorge de León, Salome Jicia, and Martin Muehle.
