Over the last month we have seen companies shift from canceling their seasons, to getting on the streaming bus, to now starting to bring opera stars together for major concerts.

The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino’s own showcase is here on May 1 and here is everything that you need to know about it.

What

The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is set to showcase an At-Home Concert with some of opera’s biggest stars joining in from their homes. The performance will feature music by Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, and several other composers.

Who

The concert will be hosted by sovrintendente Alexander Pereira and will star Cecilia Bartoli, Vittorio Grigolo, Roberto Alagna, Diana Damrau, Ludovic Tézier, Francesco Meli, Lisette Oropesa, Luca Salsi, Thomas Hampson, Krassimira Stoyanova, Michele Pertusi, Eva Mei, María José Sirí, Anna Pirozzi, Nicolas Testé, Francesco Pio Galasso, Leo Nucci, Sonya Yoncheva, Fabio Sartori, and Saioa Hernández, among others who have yet to be announced.

Why

“We wanted to bring some life to the theater and therefore we asked these artists to offer the audience a streaming concert. All the singers will be live and I will be hosting. There will be improvisation and jokes but with a positive spirit,” Pereira said in a statement.
