Eve-Maud Hubeaux & Jonathan Tetelman Lead San Francisco Opera’s ‘Carmen’ Production

San Francisco Opera’s 2024 Fall Season concludes with the Bizet’s “Carmen.”

The production by Francesca Zambello will be performed between Nov. 13–Dec. 1 at the War Memorial Opera House.

Mezzo-soprano Eve-Maud Hubeaux is set to make her American debut in the title role alongside Jonathan Tetelman as Don José, Louise Alder as Micaëla, and Christian Van Horn as Escamillo. The cast includes current Adler Fellows soprano Arianna Rodriguez as Frasquita, mezzo-soprano Nikola Printz as Mercédès, baritone Samuel Kidd as Moralès and bass-baritone James McCarthy as Zuniga.

Tenors Christopher Oglesby and Alex Boyer complete the ensemble of vocal soloists as Dancaïre and Remendado, respectively, while Dance Corps dancer Blanche Hampton portrays Manuelita.

Conductor Benjamin Manis joins the Company to lead the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, and Chorus Director John Keene prepares the artists of the San Francisco Opera Chorus.

Zambello’s production has been seen at the Washington National Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Norwegian National Opera.

“Carmen” will be live streamed on Nov. 19, 2024 and will also be available to watch on demand for 48 hours beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
