Eurasia Festival Announces 2019 Summer Season

As part of their ongoing mission to share and celebrate the artistic treasures of Eurasian cultures, the Eurasia Festival has announced their 2019 Summer Season, featuring a lineup of performances which will be sure to inspire and delight audiences of all backgrounds.

June 24 will see the festival’s Opening Night Gala, held at the Merkin Concert Hall in New York City.

The following night, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C will be host to the “Sounds of Eurasia” gala. On June 26, the festival will return to New York City for a “Eurasian Soiree” held at the Nicholas Roerich Museum.

Bringing the festival to an end on June 27 will be a semi-staged production of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece “Eugene Onegin,” featuring the emerging artists from the Eurasia Festival Summer Opera Institute, under the baton of Aza Sydykov. Selections from Alexander Pushkin’s original poem will also appear throughout the performance, to be narrated by director Marc Verzatt.

Eurasia Festival is presented by the Kyrgyz American Foundation, whose goal is to “promote international understanding and goodwill by means of cultural exchange.” The featured artists of the festival come from over 10 countries in the Eurasian region, including Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, and South Korea, among others.
