Eugene Opera has announced its 50th Anniversary Season.

At the core of the season’s opening will be the “Eugene Opera History Museum,” featuring posters, news articles, costumes, props and archival audio and video from the company’s 50-year history.

The exhibition will open with a reception on Sept. 4 from 5-8 p.m. during Lane Arts Council’s First Friday ArtWalk.

Exhibition Dates: Sept. 4 – Oct. 30, 2026

“Macbeth” will feature Craig Irvin and Kara Shay Thomson in the leading roles. Andrew Bisantz conducts the Eugene Opera Orchestra, with Naomi Castro serving as chorus master.

Performance Dates: Sept. 25 & 27, 2026

“Carmen in Concert: A 50th Anniversary Celebration and New Year’s Eve Party” will revisit the opera that launched Eugene Opera in 1977. Andrew Bisantz conducts the Eugene Opera Orchestra and Chorus, with guest singers performing the roles of Carmen, Don José, Escamillo and Micaëla in a selection of arias and ensembles from Georges Bizet’s opera. An optional post-concert celebration will follow in the Hult Center lobby.

Performance Date: Dec. 31, 2026

“A Little Night Music” by Stephen Sondheim will feature baritone Keith Phares as Fredrick Egerman and mezzo-soprano Katherine Pracht as Desiree Armfeldt, alongside local artists Bill Hulings as Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm and Vanessa Greenway as Countess Charlotte Malcolm. Bisantz conducts the Eugene Opera Orchestra.
