Etta Fung & Samantha Chong Headline Istituto Italiano di Cultura Hong Kong’s New Year’s Recital

The Istituto Italiano di Cultura Hong Kong is set to showcase a New Year’s Recital on Jan. 1, 2021.

The showcase will feature soprano Etta Fung, mezzo-soprano Samantha Chong, and piano Wei-en Hsu as they take on solos and duets from opera, song, and film by Scarlatti, Caccini, Bellini, Donizetti, Tosti, Morricone, Rota and Piovani.

Chong is a Malaysian-born mezzo who is the winner of the 41st National Singing Competition in Malaysia. She has worked extensively with Opera Hong Kong as well as the Hong Kong Bach Choir and Global Symphony Orchestra.

Fung has performed at the Neue Eutiner Festspiele, Siena Music Festival, and Lyric Opera of Kansas City. She is also the Creator of Opera Sull’Aria – aerial opera.

The showcase will be streamed live on the Instituto Italiano di Cultura Hong Kong’s official Facebook and YouTube channels. It begins at 4 p.m. local time to Hong Kong and has a duration of one hour.

The showcase will be organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with Haw Par Music / Heritage X Music Festival.
