Étienne Dupuis To ‘Replace’ Mariusz Kwiecień in Met Opera ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’

The Metropolitan Opera has announced that Canadian baritone Étienne Dupuis will replace polish singer Mariusz Kwiecień in this season’s performances of “Le Nozze di Figaro.”

Dupuis made his Met debut in 2018 as Marcello in “La Bohème,” and is set to perform as Albert in “Werther” this February at the Met.

The Montreal native will be performing  the role of the Count Almaviva on February 5, 8, and 11, 2020. He joins a cast that includes Anita Hartig as the Countess, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller as Susanna, Marianne Crebassa as Cherubino, Adam Plachetka as Figaro, and Maurizio Muraro as Bartolo. Cornelius Meister will conduct.

Kwiecień is still scheduled to perform the final three performances of the run on Feb. 14, 19, and 22.

The first run of “Le Nozze di Figaro” this season will open on Nov. 16 with a different cast that includes Adam Plachetka, Nadine Sierra, Luca Pisaroni, and Susanna Phillips.
