Mongolian baritone Amartuvshin Enkhbat has pulled out of the performances at the Verdi Gala concert at the Deutsche Oper Berlin on Sep. 12 & 13, 2020, per an official statement on the company’s website.

Enkhbat is currently in Mongolia and unable to perform due to the quarantine, that was enforced by Mongolian authorities due to the ongoing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, Canadian baritone Etienne Dupuis will perform in his stead. Dupuis will be joined onstage by Saioa Hernández, Marko Mimica, Irene Roberts, Robert Watson and Patrick Cook. Roberto Rizzi Brignoli will conduct.

Enkhbat is slated to return to the stage in the role of Giorgio Germont for a run of Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Teatro di San Carlo in October 2020.
