On June 20, 2023, the Essex Summer Opera Festival is set to open at the historic Tudor Palace, Layer Marney Tower near Colchester.

Festival-goers can picnic and enjoy the 120-acre grounds over the next four days, as well as a production of Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love.”

Stage director Guido Martin-Brandis and music director Orlando Jopling lead a cast comprised of Galina Averina as Adina, Thomas Elwin as Nemorino, James Atkinson as Belcore, Alex Jones as Dulcamara, and Sofia Kirwan-Baez as Gianetta.

The performance will be presented in two 50-minute halves, with an audience of about 240 per show.

The opening performance is scheduled for June 20, 2023 with three subsequent performances running through the 25th.
