Ermonela Jaho, Olga Peretyatko, Cecila Bartoli Headline Opéra de Monte-Carlo’s 2019-20 Season

The Opéra de Monte-Carlo has announced its slate for the 2019-20 season.

It will kick off with a concert by the young artists from the Académie de l’Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

Performance Date: Oct. 30, 2019

The first production of the season will be “Lucia di Lammermoor which will star Olga Peretyatko in the title role. Ismael Jordi will be Edgardo and Artur Rucinski will be Enrico. This will be a new production directed by Jean-Louis Grinda with Roberto Abbado conducting.

Performance Dates:  Nov. 17, 19, 22, 2019

La Damnation de Faustfollows with Sophie Koch, Jean-François Borras, Frédéric Caton, and Erwin Schrott starring. Kazuki Yamada conducts the concert version.

Performance Dates:  Dec. 15, 17, 2019

In January, the company will showcase “La Bohème” witha  cast that includes Irina Lungu, Mariam Battistelli, Andeka Gorrotxategi, and Davide Luciano. Daniele Callegari conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 24-31, 2020

“Street Scene” will get a new production by John Fulljames. Laurence Foster conducts a cast that includes Geoffrey Dolton, Jeni Bern, Paulo Szot, Scott Wilde, Lucy Schaufer, Harriet Williams, and Patricia Racette, among others.

Performance Dates: Feb. 21, 23, 25, 2020

Patricia Racette will give a recital alongside pianist Craig Terry that will feature music by Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwin, and Edith Piaf.

Performance Date: Feb. 27, 2020

Il Pirata” will make its company debut in a performance starring Anna Pirozzi, Celso Albelo, George Petean, and Allesandro Spina. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts.

Performance Dates: March 5, 8, 2020

Le Comte Oryalso makes it Opéra de Monte-Carlo debut in a production by Patrice Caurier and Moshe Leiser. Maxim Mironov and Cecilia Bartoli headline the production, which also feature Deanna Breiwick and Florian Sempey. Gianluca Capuano conducts.

Performance Dates: March 22-28, 2020

La Traviata brings the season to a close with Jean-Louis Grinda’s production. Ermonela Jaho stars in her signature role with Francesco Demuro and Simone Piazzolla as Alfredo and Germont, respectively. Giuseppe Finzi conducts.
