Ermonela Jaho & Jessica Pratt Lead Opéra De Marseille’s 2019-20 Season

Eight operas highlight the Opera de Marseille’s 2019-20 Season. The company announced a roster of upcoming stars with a number of stars in new and revived productions.

The season opens with Mozart;’s “The Magic Flute” starring Anne-Catherine Gillet, Serenad Uyar, Cyril Dubois, Philippe Estephe, and Wenwei Zhang. Lawrence Foster conducts the production by Numa Sadoul.

Performance Dates: Sept. 24-Oct. 6, 2019

Karine Deshayes stars in Gounod’s “La Reine de Saba” alongside Marie-Ange Todorovitch, Cécile Galois, Jean-Pierre Furlan, and Nicolas Courjal. The work is set to be performed in a concert version with Victorien Vanoosten conducting.

Performance Dates: Oct. 22-30, 2019

Jessica Pratt, Yijie Shi, Jean-François Lapointe, and Nicolas Courjal lead a concert performance of Bellini’s “I Puritani.” Giuliano Carella conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 3-5, 2019

Laurent Pelly directs Offenbach’s “Barbe-Bleue” with Héloïse Mas, Jennifer Courcier, Cécile Galois, Florian Laconi, Guillaume Andrieux, Jérémy Duffau, Francis Dudziak, and Antoine Normand. Nadar Abassi conducts.

Performance Dates: Dec. 28, 2019-Jan. 4, 2020

Marie-Adeline Henry, Régis Mengus, Thomas Bettinger, and Nicolas Courjal star in Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” with Robert Tuohy conducting.

Performance Dates: Feb. 11-18, 2020

Ermonela Jaho sings the title role of Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur” with  Sébastien Gueze, Sonia Ganassi, and  Marc Barrard.  Paolo Arrivabeni conducts Davide Livermore’s new production.

Performance Dates: March 24-31, 2020

Ketevan Kemoklidze, Jennifer Michel, Jean-François Borras, and Jean-François Lapointe take on Bizet’s “Carmen” with Victorien Vanoosten conducting.

Performance Dates: April 28-May 8, 2020

Verdi’s “Nabucco” closes the season with Csilla Boross, Marie Gautrot, Juan Jesús Rodriguez, Mirco Palazzi, and Jean-Pierre Furlan.  Paolo Arrivabeni conducts.

Performance Dates: June 6-14, 2020

Concerts 

The season will include numerous concerts including a performance of “Bluebeard’s “Castle” with Chrystelle Di Marco and Nicolas Cavallier and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Isabelle Cals,  Simona Ivas, Nikolai Schukoff, and Nicolas Cavallier.
