On April 21, a new film “Fuoco Sacro” will be released in Germany.

The film by Jan Schmidt-Garre takes a look at a day in the life of such singers as Ermonela Jaho, Barbara Hannigan, and Asmik Grigorian.

It explores what they do, how they do it, and what it does to us. The film observes the way singers spend the day before an opening night and what their dressing room looks like as well as what happens before the show.

The documentary was produced by Marieke Schroeder and shot in Salzburg, Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Göteborg, and Aldeburgh from 2017 to 2020. Audiences will also witness special appearances by the likes of Franz Welser-Möst, Kirill Petrenko, Lotte de Beer, and Krzysztof Warlikowski.

The film had its premiere in Berlin and Munich this past week.
