Erato To Release New Diana Damrau & Jonas Kaufmann Recording

By Francisco Salazar

Erato has announced the release of Diana Damrau’s latest album alongside Jonas Kaufmann and Helmut Deutsch.

The recital, which is set to include Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch, was recorded live from the Alfried Krupp Saal of the Philharmonie in the German city of Essen.

The album also comes on the heels of Damrau and Kaufmann’s tour which they started in February 2018 with 12 recitals in six countries around Europe. The recording marks the second time both stars are featured on a commercial release. Previously Decca released a “Der Rosenkavalier” which also featured Renée Fleming and Sophie Koch.

The new album also marks the first recording by Damrau since her Meyerbeer album, which won the Opus Klassik award. Kaufmann, who recently released Live from the Waldbühne Berlin, will appear with permission by Sony Classical.

Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch is set for release on Jan. 11, 2019.
