Enrique Mazzola to Lead Lyric Opera of Chicago’s ‘Sunday in the Park With Lyric’s Rising Stars’

The Lyric Opera of Chicago is set to present “Sunday in the Park With Lyric’s Rising Stars” on August 29, 2021.

Audience will get a chance to see the company’s new Music Director Enrique Mazzola as he leads the Lyric Opera Orchestra and sopranos Mathilda Edge, Maria Novella Malfatti, and Denis Vélez; mezzo-sopranos Katherine Beck, Katherine DeYoung, and Kathleen Felty; tenors Martin Luther Clark and Lunga Eric Hallam; baritone Leroy Davis; basses Rivers Hawkins and Anthony Reed; conductor/pianist Donald Lee III; and pianist Chris Reynolds.

The performance will feature music from Verdi’s “Macbeth,” Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore,” Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte,” Catán’s “Florencia en el Amazonas,” Puccini’s “Tosca,” Blanchard / Lemmon’s “Fire Shut Up in My Bones,” Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor,” Bernstein’s “Candide,” and Rossini’s “Guillaume Tell.”

The showcase, which will take place at Jay Pritzker Pavillion in Millenium Park, will be presented in collaboration with The City of Chicago and Millenium Park as part of Chicago in Tune.
