Enjoy New Year’s Eve With Live Stream of ‘Die Fledermaus’ From Vienna State Opera

The Vienna State Opera will continue its annual tradition of performing “Die Fledermaus” as part of its New Year’s celebration. And this season, the company will also live stream the showcase.

The famed Otto Schenk production will be presented by a cast that includes Adrian Eröd, Annette Dasch, Hans Peter Kammerer, Elena Maximova, Ramón Vargas, Daniela Fally, and Peter Simonischek. Sasha Goetzel conducts.

This is the first performance of the opera this season, with additional performances slated Jan. 1, 3, and 5, 2019.

The stream kicks off at 7 p.m. local time and is slated to run until around 10:30 p.m. That is a start time of 1 p.m. EDT and 10 a.m. PST for the start time.

Per the official website, tickets start at 14 euros (approximately $16 USD) and can be purchased right off the Vienna State Opera’s streaming website. There are options for monthly subscriptions to future performances on the service depending on users’ preference for experience opera from the comfort of their homes.

The company continues to live stream performances throughout 2019 with the first such stream set to be the complete Ring Cycle throughout January.
