The Oper Köln has announced its 2022-23 season featuring nine new productions and five revivals.

Here is a look at the operatic productions of the season.

Premieres

Enea Scala headlines Berlioz’s “Les Troyens” alongside Mirko Roschkowski in a new production by Johannes Erath. The cast also includes Veronica Simeoni, Isabelle Druet, and Marco Spotti. Francois Xavier-Roth conducts.

Katie Michell directs Purcell’s “Miranda” with Adriana Bastidas-Gamboa, Alastair Miles, Emily Hindrichs, Ed Lyon, and John Heuzenroeder. George Petrou conducts. 

Premiere Date: Oct. 2, 2022

Lawrence Renes conducts a doubt bill of Zemlinsky’s “Der Zwerg” and Stravinsky’s “Petrushka.” Zemlinsky’s opera will star Emily Hindrichs, Kathrin Zukowski, Martin Koch, Burkhard Fritz, Christoph Seidl, and Claudia Rohrbach.

Anna Alàs i Jové and Adriana Bastidas-Gamboa lead Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” with Pablo Martinez, Dmitry Ivanchey, Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger, Omar Montanari, and Christoph Seidl. Matteo Beltrami conducts the new production by Cecilia Ligorio.

Premiere Date: Dec. 17, 2022

Cäcilia Wolkenburg’s “Fastelovend zesamme” will be directed by Lajos Wenzel.

Christof Loy directs a new production of Verdi’s “Luisa Miller” with Mane Galoyan, Christiane Oliviera, Rodrigo Porras-Garulo, Vladislav Sulimsky, Dario Ruso, and Karl-Heinz Lehner. Roberto Rizzi Brignoli.

Premiere Date: March 4, 2023

Benjamin Lazar directs a new production of “Der Fliegende Hollander” with Meagan Miller, Ingela Brimberg, James Rutherford, Jordan Shanahan, Karl-Heinz Lehner, Lucas Singer, Maximilian Schmitt, Young Woo Kim. Francois Xavier-Roth and Christoph Altstaedt conducts.

Premiere Date: April 2, 2023

“La Bête dans la jungle” will star Emily Hindrichs, Miljenko Turk, and Frederic Wake-Walker with Francois Xavier-Roth conducting. Wake-Walker directs.

Premiere Date: April 14, 2023

Vincent Boussard directs Handel’s “Giulio Cesare” with Raffaele Pe, Sungjun Cho, Adriana Bastidas-Gamboa, Anna Lucia Richter, Giulia Montanari, Filippo Mineccia, Matthias Hoffmann, and Regina Richter. Ruben Dubrovsky conducts.

Revivals 

Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” stars Florian Reiners, Kathrin Zukowski, Dmitry Ivanchey, Giulia Montanari, Martin Koch, and Christoph Seidl. Rainer Mulbach conducts.

Astrik Khanamiryan stars in Puccini’s “Turandot” with Stefano la Colla, Leonardo Caimi, Yitian Luan, and Lucas Singer. Felix Bender conducts.

Angela Nisi, Emily Hindrichs, Kathrin Zukowski, Arthur Espiritu, Insik Choi, Miljenko Turk, Sungjun Cho, and Stefan Hadzic star in Puccini’s “La Boheme.” Lorzenzo Passerini and Arne Willimczik conduct.

Premiere Date: Dec. 22, 2022

Jordan de Souza conducts Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” with Kathrin Zukowski, Dmitry Ivanchey, Giulia Montanari, Gloria Rehm, Lucas Singer, Christoph Seidl, and Wolfgang Stefan Schwaiger.

Zuzana Marková sings the title role in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” with Airam Hernandez, Insik Choi, and Karl-Heinz Lehner. Andrea Sanguineti conducts.
