The Emmy Destinn Foundation has announced the winners of its biennial Young Singers international competition.

First Prize went to the soprano Caroline Taylor. The Dvořák Society for Czech and Slovak Music Prize was awarded to tenor Sam Utley, while the Czech Song Prize was given to soprano Nikola Uramová.

Finally, the Accompanist’s Prize was awarded to Max Bilbe.

The Emmy Destinn Foundation’s biennial international competition was established in 2000 in London to promote Czech opera and provide a platform to showcase young talent. The competition is open to young singers of any nationality, involved in the advanced study of classical singing. Participants are required to present a contrasting program of Czech arias and songs. For Czech and Slovak nationals, one aria must be in English.
